In an effort to improve the safety, reliability, and performance of the natural gas distribution system, Central Hudson is undertaking a comprehensive natural gas main and service replacement program in select communities throughout the Mid-Hudson Valley to address and modernize aging infrastructure.

As part of this improvement initiative, Central Hudson will be investing in the natural gas system in your neighborhood by replacing the main lines in the street and service lines that connect to individual homes and businesses. Central Hudson is working with our construction partner, Precision Pipeline Solutions, to install these new natural gas distribution mains and services.

Replacement of approximately 3,700 feet of gas lines in the City of Newburgh is formally set to begin in March and the project is estimated to take 4 months to complete. Construction trenching will occur along:

  • • North St, at the intersection of N Plank Rd
  • • North St, between Powell Ave and Liberty St
  • • Stern Dr, at the intersection of North St
  • • Central Ave, between North St and Elmwood Pl
  • • Balmville Rd, between North St and Interstate 84
  • • Liberty St, at the intersection of North St
  • • Leroy Pl, at the intersection of Liberty St
  • • Park Pl, at the intersection of Grand Ave
  • • Elmwood Pl, between Powell Ave and Liberty St
  • If your service line is affected, Precision Pipeline Solutions will contact you to schedule an appointment for its replacement. Please note that this entire process requires work to be performed both inside and outside of your home or business. Natural gas meters currently located indoors will be relocated by Central Hudson or one of our contractors to an outdoor location to improve future access to this equipment by utility personnel. All Central Hudson employees and contractors display identification badges.
Any disruptions to your property will be restored by our crews or our professional landscape and paving contractors. If you do not own the home or property, please refer all decisions concerning this work to the property owner.

Central Hudson is working closely with your municipal officials in planning this work, such as coordination with paving, restoration, and other planned infrastructure projects. In addition, we invite you to attend a virtual informational session hosted by Central Hudson on Wednesday, February 22nd, starting at 5 p.m. A presentation about the project will be shared and we are happy to address questions you may have. To register, please send an email to avanderpool@cenhud.com including the word ‘Newburgh’ by February 20th and a meeting link will be forwarded on the day before the session.

If you have any questions about this activity, please do not hesitate to contact me at (845) 240-3688. For more information about this important initiative and to view weekly updates for each project, visit CenHud.com/GasProjects on your browser.
